Chiusavecchia, Liguria

Chiusavecchia

Chiusavecchia counts 577 citizens, so it is a small and calm village located in the valley floor along the Impero torrent in the province of Imperia, Liguria.

Chiusavecchia is placed on two different levels, built in different ages. The most antique one, where the holiday home "Arch of Light" is located, is downward along the ancient route which brings to Piemonte.

In spite of its size, Chiusavecchia offers all the comforts: a food shop, a pharmacy, a tobacco shop, a poste office, a café/restaurant and a trattoria.

Both by car or by bus, which stops in the square, you can easily reach the numerous medieval suburbs surrounding Chiusavecchia .

Then, at a distance of 8 kilometers there is the Olive Museum, the characteristic historical centers of Oneglia (where Villa Grock is located) and Porto Maurizio, with its numerous equipped beaches. Then, 30 kilometers far, there is an aquatic park (Caravelle); caves (grottos) at a distance of 35 kilometers and a botanic garden in Ventimiglia. Also Alassio, Sanremo, Genova and Montecarlo can be easily reached.

Chiusavecchia is still bound to the traditional activity of olive tree plantation, from which an exquisite olive oil is originated, therefore, you will have the chance to taste the products of ligurian tradition (pesto, olive oil, paté) by the local makers.
